The Canadian Piano Society is back! We are thrilled that we have found a new home, with world-class pianos and free parking!
The Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy has generously offered its in-demand and impressive Gordon Lightfoot Concert Hall to host our future meetups. It has two grand pianos: a Steinway and a 92-key Bosendorfer. This beautiful heritage building is centrally located with onsite parking and easy TTC access. The built-in kitchenette and adjacent boardroom shall be used for our social hour.
The address is 460 Avenue Road, Toronto, ON, M4V 2J1, one short block south of St. Clair. A TTC bus stop is right in front of the building, and the subway is an 8-minute walk from Yonge Street.
Our meetup will be held on Saturday, March 25, at 6:30 pm.
The ticket prices are $25 for spectators and $30 for performers.
You may bring up to 5 guests with you. They will need to purchase their tickets too.
This event shall be divided into two segments: the first segment, for performers who do not like to be critiqued, i.e. for those who just want to perform for the sake of having the experience of playing the piano in front of an audience; the second segment (after the intermission), for performers whose performance they would like to be critiqued by any member of the audience. Performers will indicate which segment they would like to be included in.
Within these segments, there will be special performances for two pianos, and sight-reading fun games.
The intermission will feature snacks and refreshments in the built-in kitchenette; for those familiar with our Society’s tradition, each member usually brings food for the group—although it’s not required.
